For Workforce Development Partners

On-the-job training on real projects, not in a classroom.

Every FCS-REG adaptive reuse project is also a training ground. We integrate workforce development partners directly into our construction and conversion timelines so trainees gain paid, hands-on experience on live projects.

The Concept

Real projects. Real schedules. Real experience.

Converting a former school, hotel, or church into workforce and affordable housing requires months of coordinated work across nearly every building trade. That work is a structured training opportunity — not an afterthought.

We design each project so that workforce partners can place trainees into defined scopes with clear supervision, safety expectations, and completion milestones. Trainees learn by doing, on a schedule that mirrors actual construction operations.

How the Partnership Works

From project scope to placement pathway.

01

Identify Labor Needs

For each project, we define the trades and support roles required through construction and conversion: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, drywall, painting, site logistics, and facilities support.

02

Source & Pre-Screen Trainees

Your organization brings candidates who are pre-screened for site readiness, safety orientation, and reliability. We review scope and timeline together before any placement commitment.

03

Work On Site

Trainees work alongside our general contractor and site teams under direct supervision, with structured check-ins and safety protocols that match the project's standards.

04

Pathway to Placement

Completion leads to documented work experience and a direct referral track to permanent roles with contractor partners or to operations and maintenance positions in the stabilized property.

Why This Matters to Our Partners

Workforce is not a side program. It is part of the deal.

For lenders and investors, embedded workforce training strengthens CRA and community impact narratives. For municipalities and CDCs, it turns a real estate transaction into a local employment outcome.

That is why we plan workforce integration into the project timeline and capital structure from the start — not as a marketing add-on, but as a measurable component of community return.

What We Look For

Partners who can operate at project speed.

  • An established trainee pipeline with intake, assessment, and case-management capacity

  • Ability to pre-screen candidates for site-readiness, including safety orientation and reliable attendance

  • Willingness to co-develop a training plan tied to a specific project timeline and trade scope

  • Experience tracking outcomes such as hours, credentials earned, and post-program placement

  • Capacity to coordinate with our contractors, site supervisors, and compliance teams

Start a Conversation

Interested in placing trainees on an upcoming project? Let's talk timelines and fit.

Initial conversations are confidential and non-binding. Tell us about your trainee pipeline, the trades you support, and the regions you serve, and we will identify projects where a partnership makes operational sense.
